Fresco by Mango Languages is a Spanish curriculum designed to promote students’ Spanish language acquisition through a conversation-based methodology that reinforces grammar, vocabulary, culture, and pronunciation. The curriculum is composed of 40 chapters divided among four school years, with roughly 180 hours of content per year. Chapters are organized into Curriculum Lessons, with an average of 7 lessons per chapter.
Fresco's Curriculum Lessons are primarily composed of two parts:
Mango Digital Lessons
Strategically placed throughout the curriculum, the Mango Digital Lessons utilize Intuitive Language Construction designed to build the conversation skills necessary to establish connections in a new language. Each chapter begins with a realistic conversation, which is then broken down into its component parts as the lesson progresses, and put back together by the learner as they’re presented with new vocabulary, retention exercises, and cultural context that complements the learning material.
Classroom Activities
The classroom activities expand on the topics found in the Mango Digital Lessons by increasing the breadth of content (vocabulary, grammar, and culture) and providing sufficient practice with the concepts for students to build confidence and reach proficiency. Classroom activities touch all three modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational) across reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and target ACTFL’s World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages (WRSLL).
