Fresco - Summative Activities

Real-World Language Progress

Proficiency-based summative assessments built into every stage of learning

Fresco integrates meaningful, standards-aligned assessments throughout the curriculum, giving students authentic ways to demonstrate growth and communication skills.

Chapter Checkpoints: Each chapter ends with flexible activities that offer multiple ways for students to demonstrate learning, including interpretive Listening & Reading activities, individual and group projects, reflections, and quizzes aligned to proficiency goals.
Assessments that Prioritize Synthesis over Memorization: In Capstone Projects, students synthesize language, culture, and content knowledge around a unifying theme. Students work on the project incrementally at the end of each chapter, and walk away with a deeper understanding of the language and a final product that they are proud to share.
Choice-based Review and Differentiation: Choice Boards offer differentiated review and assessment tasks, organized by chapter and skill, giving students agency while reinforcing proficiency goals.
Real-World Performance Tasks: Students demonstrate what they can do with Spanish across all modes of communication and skills, including integrated performance assessments and projects that reflect authentic communication.
Reflection that Supports Growth: Regular reflection, goal setting, and self-assessment activities help students monitor their own learning, build metacognitive awareness, and take ownership of their language development.
