What are Interactive Reading Passages?
Mango's Interactive Reading Passages are written by native speakers of the target languages they correspond to. They are designed to supplement a structured learning experience while offering engaging insights into target language culture. These texts are carefully crafted to be just challenging enough to foster growth in your new language, while giving you the tools to learn words just outside of your comfort zone.
These passages include a wide range of content and genres (e.g., articles, blogs, stories, songs, podcasts, videos, etc.) that satisfy different interests and personalities, learners can quickly and easily find target language content that is personally meaningful and engaging to them.
Interacting with the Passages
Of course, you can just read the passages and that would be interesting enough. However, these passages are meant to be a challenge. No doubt you will need some help with words or phrases that are unfamiliar to you or you simply haven't learned yet. This is where the interactive element of these passages comes in.
Click on any word in the passage and you'll see important information about it, including its translation into English. You can click on the Word tab to see what kind of a word it is (noun, verb, adjective, etc) as well as other information that may apply (word gender, plurality, etc.). Click on the Chunk tab (if applicable) to see how a group of words form a single thought. You can also click on the Sentence tab to view that word in the entire sentence.
